Taoist Tai Chi
Taoist Tai Chi Society of WNY
Founded locally by Eva Wong, translator of Cultivating Stillness, Taoist Tai Chi was a recreated style developed from the experiences of Grandmaster Moy (now based in Canada) before fleeing China during the Cultural Revolution. It stresses postures and movements as a means of physical therapy, and breath work, strangely, is not taught until students have been learning for about two years.
This was my first experience in Tai Chi, through an extra-curricular course taught at D’Youville College, circa 1990. One of the instructors was “Dave”, whose position at the VA Recovery Center I took over years later.
